Welcome to Tech Tools for Writers!
If you’re a writer or editor, and you’re
- a technophobe,
- tech curious, or
- tech savvy,
then this site is for you.
Writing is hard work. But tech tools can make writing and editing easier. Nowadays, words and tech go together.
Here, I’ll be sharing my favourite writing tech
- tools
- tips
- tutorials
… so you can write smarter.
Who Am I?
I’m C.K. MacLeod. I’m an author and co-author of 11 books, and a past contributing writer at the Book Designer blog. I love writing about tech tools, and even talking about them, though this hasn’t always been the case.
I’m also an instructional designer and developmental editor at Queen’s University, and a copyeditor and proofreader at Beyond Paper Editing, where I write about self-publishing and ebook production. When I’m not nerding out with words, I’m knocking people over, but only if they’re wearing roller skates.

Thank you very much for all the tools and advice you are giving Ck.

PS. I am embarking on writing, editing and proof reading services. Just cant decide how much to charge.
You’re welcome, Harcharan.
Ah yes, setting prices can be tricky because you need to determine what your particular market will bear. The Editorial Freelance Association has a list of recommended rates. There’s also a terrific free Facebook group called Editors Association of Earth, whose members may be able to offer you guidance.
Best of luck!
I’ve read a few of your post and am equally amazed and terrified to try implementing a macro to help with my editing. if I don’t crash and burn I will be greatly appreciative of your brilliance. Wish me luck.
Good luck, Alma!
